The NEFCO Norwegian Carbon Procurement Facility is established to procure carbon credits from vulnerable CDM projects.

2010

NEFCO has financed over 400 projects since 1990.

2009

The Baltic Sea Action Plan (BSAP) Fund is established by Sweden and Finland.

2008

The NEFCO Carbon Fund is established. NEFCO purchases carbon credits globally.

2004

Ukraine becomes a new priority country for NEFCO.

2003

The first multilateral public-private carbon fund outside the World Bank Group, the Baltic Sea Region Testing Ground Facility, is established at NEFCO.

2000

After 10 years of operation, NEFCO has invested in 122 projects in Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

1996

NEFCO's own capital is doubled from EUR 40 million to EUR 80 million.

1995

The Nordic Council of Ministers and the owners of NEFCO establish the Nordic Environmental Development Fund.

1990

The Nordic countries sign the agreement to establish the Nordic Environment Finance Corporation.
